The Russian ambassador to Turkey was fatally shot in Ankara on Monday, Turkish media reports. The gunman was also shot and killed.
The incident took place at the opening of the ‘Russia through Turks’ eyes’ photo exhibition.
Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was transported to a hospital where he pronounced dead.
The Russian Embassy in Ankara has not yet issued an official statement regarding the assault.
Ambassador Karlov has represented Russia in the country since 2013.
