Brooklyn, New York – On Monday, around 9:10 p.m., New York State Troopers from the Brooklyn station arrested Calvin F. Alexander, age 30, of Brooklyn, New York, for being in possession of a stolen Pennsylvania license plate and unlawful imprisonment of a female victim.
The Troopers were patrolling the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel in Brooklyn when they discovered a white 2007 Chrysler Town & Country, operated by Alexander, displaying a Pennsylvania license plate registered to a different vehicle. The investigation into the vehicle revealed that the license plate was stolen.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the Troopers interviewed the female victim, who stated that she contacted a car service and was picked up by Alexander. Upon investigating, Troopers found that Alexander did not have the required Class E driver’s license or Taxi and Limousine Commission (T.L.C.) registration to carry passengers. The victim also stated that Alexander ignored her requests to release her from his vehicle, and overrode the lock system, to prevent her escape.
During the stop, Alexander rolled up his vehicle’s windows, locked the doors and physically moved himself to the front passenger seat. The Troopers ordered Alexander to release the victim, and he complied. Alexander was told he was under arrest and to exit the vehicle, but refused several times, which forced the Troopers to smash the driver’s side window to gain access into the vehicle. Alexander was taken into custody without further incident, and a small amount of marijuana was found in his possession.
Alexander was processed at NYPD’s 76th Precinct, and charged by State Police with the following: Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Alexander was lodged at Brooklyn Central Booking, and will remain there until his arraignment.
