Pennsylvania- Students at Penn State University were alerted to a suspicious package on campus Tuesday afternoon after a maintenance worker found the item along a fence line near the university’s sustainability center. Police advised that the suspicious device was to the south of Medlar Field. 
The university’s emergency notification system alsoadvised students that Porter Road is closed from Curtin Road to Hastings Road. 
Police are currently on scene and investigating. A Penn State spokesman says there is “currently no threat to the public.” Penn States EMS advised that bomb techs have just arrived on the scene
Around 4:15 there were reports of a blast in the vicinity of the package. Soon after bomb techs confirmed they detonated the package and determined the situation safe. A spokesman said that this will be an ongoing investigation and that there was “nothing inside” the package.
