Iran detained the Sailors after two small patrol boats reportedly drifted into Iranian waters on Tuesday in the Gulf, US officials say.
Secretary of State John Kerry praised the Iranians for their “cooperation” in releasing the men.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the decision to release them came after it was determined that “their entrance into [our] waters was unintentional,” the result of mechanical problems.
