WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) A 10-year-old boy has been left seriously injured on Wednesday from what appears to be a shark attack.

The boy was treated Wednesday at Makaha Surfing Beach for trauma ‘possibly from a marine animal,’ a report from emergency personnel said.

The child was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Mike Ward told Hawaii News Now: ‘I said “Paddle towards me and I’ll paddle towards you,” and I said, “What’s wrong?” And he said, “A shark is following me.”‘

Kelly Krohne, an off-duty lifeguard who told Hawaii News Now he brought the injured boy to shore, says the boy suffered a wound to his leg about 60-70 yards offshore.

Krohne told the local news outlet: ‘I saw this ten-year-old boy get bumped out of the water, and he started screaming, “Uncle! Uncle! I got hit! I got hit!”‘

Krohne said: ‘Me and another person paddled over to him, looked at his leg.

‘He had three gashes on his leg. Looked at his thigh, and his thigh was open.’

According to KHON, Wednesday’s incident is possibly the seventh shark attack to happen in Hawaii in 2015.

EMS spokeswoman Shayne Enright told the Fox affiliate: ‘He suffered serious injuries to his right leg, several puncture wounds and a gash, but thankfully it wasn’t worse than that.’

Enright said: ‘This kid, he had his wit about him.

‘He knew what happened and he let somebody know that “Hey, I need help,” and that’s probably what saved his life.’
