10-Year Old N.J. Boy Dies After Jumping From School Window

    DUMONT, New Jersey — The incident occurred at the Grant School in Dumont. The boy jumped from a second story window at the school, falling onto a concrete sidewalk. It’s unclear what caused the Fifth Grader jump Friday afternoon.

    The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died around 5 p.m., the Associated Press reported. His name has not been released.

    District officials say they will make counselors available to students, parents and staff. They said the Grant School will be open Monday morning.

    Dumont is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough’s population was 17,479, reflecting a decrease of 24 from the 17,503 counted in the 2000.
