NASHVILLE, Tenn. — South Precinct detectives Friday charged a 15-year-old with reckless homicide for the late afternoon shooting death of Mina Fawzy, 16, inside his Swan Ridge Drive home.

Officers who responded to the 4:50 p.m. shooting call found Fawzy deceased next to his bed from a wound to his neck/head area.

Interviews with the 15-year-old suspect and a 15-year-old witness revealed that the boys were playing with the gun, which had been stolen from a car in the neighborhood.

Police say the 15-year-old suspect said he thought the gun was unloaded when he pulled the slide back and released it. The gun fired, striking Fawzy, police said.
