NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — Madison Precinct detectives tonight charged Tyler Atkins, 17, with criminal homicide for the overnight shooting death of John Stowers, 56, at Stowers’ 119 Queen Anne Drive mobile home.

Atkins, of 111 Queen Anne Drive, was taken into custody this evening on Brunswick Drive. He is being held in juvenile detention.

The investigation, being led by Detective Jamie Bledsoe, suggests that a dispute between Atkins and Stowers led to the gunfire. Stowers was found dead by a friend on the front porch of the mobile home just before 2:30 a.m. Persons in the area reported hearing what sounded like gunfire at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

The investigation of Atkins is continuing. Anyone with information about him is asked to contact Madison Precinct Investigations at 615-880-3311.
