A teenage girl was reportedly raped by up to 27 men after being lured to a hotel with the promise of a job.
The 17 year-old is believed to have been taken to Jaipur, a popular tourist destination in Northern India, by her neighobours before being assaulted by the gang, which included hotel staff, more more than 24 hours.
The victim was reportedly denied food and made to stay in the small room during the attack.
When she returned to Delhi, she complained to police and six men have been arrested.
The rest of the suspects are currently on the run and have not been identified, officers have confirmed.
A police officer, who wanted to remain anonymous, said they had confirmed the involvement of 10 people.
He added: ‘She was confined to a hotel where 10 people including the manager took turns to rape her.
The attack led to a major reform of India’s rape laws, speeding up trials and increasing penalties.
Last week three men were convicted for the gang-rape of a young Japanese woman in Jaipur, a popular tourist destination, and sentenced to 20 years in jail.
