UNION, NJ – An investigation is underway following the discovery of the bodies of a family of four, including two children, in a residence in New Jersey.

The residence on Lincrest Terrace in Union, a suburban community, is now cordoned off with crime tape. Sheriff’s officers arrived at the house just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday to serve an eviction notice as the property was in foreclosure, WNBC reported. Upon entering, they made the grim discovery.

Shortly afterward, police and emergency personnel were summoned to the scene. Inside the house, a mother and father were found dead, along with two grade school-age children, believed by neighbors to be under 10 years old.

The house had been sold at a sheriff’s sale for $322,000 in November. The family residing there was supposed to have vacated within 60 days after the sale to avoid eviction. The property had been the family’s home for 15 years, a neighbor. told WNBC

At this point, no additional details, including the names or ages of the deceased individuals, are available.

The community awaits further information as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the event.
