22-Year-Old Man Dies After Falling From Cliff at Maryland Park

JARRETTSVILLE, MARYLAND — A man was killed after police say he fell from a 190-foot cliff in Rock State Park Monday.

According to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police, the 22-year-old slipped and fell from the lookout known as the “King and Queen Seat” around 10:00 a.m. while he was with friends.

The victim, identified as Joseph Buxton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Maryland department of resources website, novice climbers are encouraged to seek professional training before attempting to climb the King and Queen Seat.
