2nd Suspect Arrested After Nashville Officer Attacked at Housing Project

NASHVILLE, TENN — (Scroll down for video) — Michael Cortez Mays, who is suspected of kicking Officer Matthew Cammarn while he was on the ground off South 7th Street in the James Cayce public housing development Tuesday night, surrendered himself at the East Precinct.

An arrest warrant charging Mays, 26, with aggravated assault against a police officer was issued Thursday after multiple citizens called to identify him as the man recorded on cell phone video kicking Officer Cammarn. Mays, who is not a resident of the James Cayce Homes, is charged with aggravated assault. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond

Mays has multiple previous arrests on charges including felony drug and weapon possession, aggravated burglary, and domestic assault.
