Three people have been arrested with several loaded rifles, pistols and ballistic vests at the Holland Tunnel on Tuesday.
Police initially stopped the trio for driving with a cracked windshield.
Officials confirmed that the three individuals, two men in their 50’s and a woman in her 30’s, were stopped on the New Jersey side of the tunnel.
After police searched their vehicle, the retrieved the weapons cache.
A camouflaged helmet with night visions were seized during the bust.
The guns included long-range weapons as well as handguns, according to NBC New York.
Authorities confirmed that the Joint Terrorism Task Force is now assisting in the investigation.
A search of their vehicle revealed a cache of weapons including a shotgun, a scoped rifle, knives and pistols.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the three suspects are “gun enthusiasts,” and that there is no terror threat.
The Holland Tunnel is a highway tunnel under the Hudson River carrying Interstate 78 on the island of Manhattan in New York City westward into Jersey City, New Jersey on the mainland of the United States.
