NEW YORK — On Tuesday, Troopers responded to ADESA on Main Street in the town of Newstead for a collision involving four customers in the auction building.

Police say the investigation revealed that a handicap accessible 2005 Ford Econoline van operated by Robert Henning Jr., 75 of Akron was being driven into the building for presentation during the auction. Four customers were inspecting an uninvolved vehicle in front of the Econoline van when Henning accidentally engaged the handicap accelerator attached underneath the steering wheel of the van with his leg.

The injuries on the four customers that were struck range in severity from broken bones, lacerations to superficial cuts. Three of the injured customers were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment. All involved are in stable condition.

No criminal charges have been made at this time.
