Jason Dalton Arrested After Killing Seven People During Shooting Spree In Kalamazoo

A 45-year-old man has been arrested after killing seven people, including an eight-year-old, during a shooting spree Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Jason Dalton, aged 45, surrendered on Sunday morning after he opened fire at innocent people during a five-hour shooting spreee.

Uber’s chief security officer, Joe Sullivan, said Dalton had passed a background check: “We are horrified and heartbroken at the senseless violence in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this devastating crime and those recovering from injuries. We have reached out to the police to help with their investigation in any way that we can.”

Dalton was arrested in a car that matched the description of the suspected shooters, a gun was also found inside the car.

Multiple people were seriously injured at over three locations he targeted.

Police were first called to a Kalamazoo residential building on Saturday evening where a woman was shot multiple times and was taken to hospital in a serious condition

Initial reports indicate that Dalton has children and is married.

The suspect gave up without any struggle.

“These are random murders,” Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said, describing the spree as his “worst nightmare”.

Several people died during the shootings at a Cracker Barrel restaurant and at a Ford dealership.

Police reported that Dalton exited his vehicle and shot people while they were inside their cars.

He then shot and severely injured a 14-year-old girl.

Prosecutors have confirmed she was clinging to life on early Sunday morning.

Kalamazoo is about 160 miles west of Detroit. 

Dalton will be arraigned on Monday.
