5-year-old and her grandmother die after being struck by vehicle while on a walk in Baltimore County

BALTIMORE — A grandmother and her granddaughter were killed when they were struck by a vehicle while taking a morning walk in Lutherville-Timonium this morning.

Police and Fire/EMS responded to Girdwood Road just north of Londonderry Road at about 6:49 a.m. for a pedestrian involved crash. A woman was pushing her 5-year-old granddaughter in a stroller northbound on the sidewalk when a 2003 Kia Sorrento traveling southbound on Girdwood Road inexplicably left the roadway, crossing a grassy area and onto the sidewalk, where it struck the two pedestrians.

An EMS supervisor and EMS personnel from the Texas and Towson fire stations provided advanced life support to both victims at the scene.

The woman, identified as Deborah Ann Limmer (60) of the 2300 block of Potspring Road, 21093, was transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma via Medic 101, where she was pronounced deceased. The child, identified as Delaney Marie Gaddis (5) was transported via Medic 117 to Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Kia, a 22-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was transported via Medic 11 to an area hospital with minor injuries. A 25-year-old male passenger was also transported via Medic 11.

The Baltimore County Crash Investigation Team continues working to uncover the causative factors involved in this fatal crash.
