Conewango, NEW YORK — A 5-year-old child was fatally injured in a freak lawnmower accident in upstate New York Wednesday, police say.
State Troopers responded to State Route 241 in the town of Conewango for a call of a child injured by a lawn mower.
“Further investigation revealed that a 5-year-old child was on a riding lawn mower without an adult and was thrown from the mower,” police said in a press release. “The lawn mower drove over the child causing fatal injuries. The 5-year-old was pronounced at the scene.”
“This is still an ongoing investigation.”
It was unclear if any charges would be filed in the case.
