NEW YORK CITY – NYPD Transit District 1 officers arrested a 55-year-old man Friday evening in Manhattan for forcibly touching six women.

Earlier in the week a woman filed a complaint with Transit officers stating while she was inside of the West 59 Street and Columbus Circle train station, she sat on a bench facing the south bound express ‘A’ train while the suspect was seated opposite of her facing the local train.

She felt the suspect reach his hand through the seat and grab her buttocks. The woman was able to capture a photo of the suspect with her cellphone before going to Transit District 1 to report the crime to police.

Based on the information and photo provided by the victim, officers were on the look out for the suspect. The anti-crime and conditions teams were patrolling the 59 Street subway station when they observed a man fitting the suspect’s description.

The suspect was seated on the same platform bench and facing the local ‘A’ train side. While surveilling the suspect’s actions, the officers observed women sit in the seat behind the suspect, facing the express train side, and witnessed the suspect reach over and grab the victims’ buttocks. At this time, the officers approached the man and he was arrested.
