Police Searching For Woman Who Nearly Kidnapped a Baby at Knife-point

Austin Police officers responded to the report an attempted kidnapping.

AUSTIN, Texas — On Monday, December 7th, 2015 at approximately 8:13 a.m., Austin Police officers responded to the report an attempted kidnapping.

The victim reported that she was carrying her one year old baby while walking to her car on Deer Run Drive in south Austin when she saw an older red two door (regular cab) truck with dark tinted windows stop near the residence. The victim believes that the truck is possibly a Chevrolet.

A heavyset Hispanic female in her 40’s about 5 foot 5 inches tall exited the truck and approached the victim. She demanded that the victim give her the baby.

When the victim did not comply, the suspect displayed a knife and attempted to grab the baby. The two struggled briefly over the baby and the victim fell to the ground to cover and protect the baby.

The victim described the suspect as wearing a single black glove on her right hand.

The suspect took personal property from the victim and got into the passenger side of the red truck and fled.
