Active Shooter Reported at Arkansas State University

JONESBORO, Arkansas — There were reports of an active shooter at Arkansas State University on Thursday.

The suspect has been placed in police custody, the campus remains on lockdown.

The University said, “Report of an active shooter spotted at the student union. Everyone should evacuate to the west side of the building and clear the area.”

The incident started when the suspect drove into the center of the campus, the suspect has been surrounded and is reportedly talking to police.

The suspect with a weapon has now been surrounded by police.

There are no reports of shots fired and there are currently no injuries.

A campus text alert message said, “Man with weapon is on east side of student union.”

The campus of Arkansas State system has 14,000 students.

The campus was on lockdown.
