SOUTH CAROLINA — Florence County Emergency Management reported an active shooter situation in Florence, South Carolina Wednesday afternoon. The shooting happened in Vintage Place off of Hoffmeyer Road in Florence.
WPDE reports that three Florence County Deputies and two Florence City Officers have been shot. One officer has been confirmed dead–additional conditions are not yet known.
Nearby West Florence High School went into lockdown during the shooting.
The Florence County Emergency Management Division said: “We are advising everyone to stay away from this area,” the agency wrote. “We have Sheriff Officers along with City PD and other first responders handling this situation.”
The agency later said the incident was over and the gunman was in custody: “The active shooting situation is over and the suspect is in custody. We are asking everyone to stay away from Vintage Place as there is still an active crime investigation in progress.”
