EDINBURG, Texas — Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents seized more than $6.3 million in marijuana over this past weekend.
The most significant seizure occurred Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. when agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station were advised of possible illegal activity near Chapeño. Agents responded to the area and found an abandoned van with more than 1,300 pounds of marijuana inside.
Several additional seizures throughout the sector brought the total amount of marijuana confiscated from Friday through Sunday to nearly 8,000 pounds.
