NEW MEXICO — Officials responded to a suspicious device near the Albuquerque International Sunport on Sunday. The scene is at 3400 University Blvd.
The Albuquerque Police Department Bomb Squad confirms an explosive device was located attached to a rental car at the Avis car rental station. The device was eventually disarmed and deemed safe. The FBI and ATF are investigating.
According to NECN, the device was attached to a car that was rented elsewhere and dropped off at the Albuquerque airport.
KRQE reported: “Rental car returns are being diverted to the 3200 block of university SE. A temporary parking lot has been established just north of the area.”
