BREA, California — On August 14, 2015, at 11:00 PM Brea Police Officers were called to the Starbucks at 101 W. Imperial Highway regarding an object that was believed to be a camera hidden inside of a customer restroom.

A female adult customer was using the restroom when she found what she thought may be a small camera mounted underneath a shelf inside the restroom.

She removed the item and notified police. Responding patrol officers were unsure if the item was in fact a camera, and arranged for it to be taken to the Orange County Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory for further examination.

The device has been identified as a miniature video camera and a preliminary examination reveals a number of people who were recorded using the Starbucks restroom.

An in-depth examination of the device and the images captured on it will be done to identify potential victims as well as the suspect who placed the camera.

At this time it is unknown how long the camera was in place before it was discovered.

On July 9, a woman and her young child visited the coffee shop in Lancaster, California and found a hidden cell phone camera.

Anyone with information on these crimes or the suspect is asked to contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at OCCRIMESTOPPERS.ORG or (855) TIP-OCCS.
