Authorities Say Traces Of DNA Recovered From U.S. Marine Hawaii Helicopter Crash

Authorities have confirmed they have found traces of DNA from marines that were killed in a helicopter crash off the coast of Hawaii.

DNA traces have been discovered during search operations that finally ended on January 19th, a spokesperson confirmed.

The families of the Marines that were identified have now been notified.

The Marine Corps have not provided further information about what has been discovered at the crash site.

Twelve Marine were killed after two helicopters crashed during a training exercise on January 14th.

Both of the aircraft were Sea Stallion helicopters that were part of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463.

The Marines said it wasn’t known if there was a collision but the Coast Guard reported the helicopters collided.

Navy diving units used underwater robots to search the area of the crash and the debris field.

It has now been revealed that the rescue operation may take months to complete, but that may be extended.

It’s unclear who was at the controls when the accident occurred.
