Charles Warner, raped and killed an 11-month-old baby girl. Tonight, he will become the first Oklahoma inmate to be executed since the botched execution of Clayton Lockett.
The U.S. Supreme Court declined Thursday to stop the execution of baby rapist and killer.
His execution was supposed to happen last April immediately after Lockett, but he got an eight-month reprieve on death row as a legal battle over Oklahoma’s execution method played out in the courts.
Warner’s last meal was served at noon, and was similar to his request from last April: KFC hot wings, a Coca-Cola, potato wedges, slaw and fruit cocktail.
Since the Department of Corrections has increased to $25 the amount inmates can request to spend on last meals, he also received a Big Mac meal from McDonald’s and a bag of gummy worms. Previously, the limit was $15, according to TulsaWorld.com.
The mother of Warner’s young victim had opposed the execution, saying capital punishment goes against her religious beliefs and would “dishonor” the name of her 11-month-old daughter, Adrianna.
