BALTIMORE — Corporal Michael Flaig, a 10-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department (assigned to the Eastern District), was arrested and charged with a second-degree assault and public intoxication after an altercation in the Canton area of Baltimore.

Flaig was allegedly groping a woman at a bar on Cinco de Mayo when the woman’s roommate intervened and insisted he stop.

The off-duty Officer didn’t stop and was groping the victim as she and her roommate were attempting to walk home. The Officer allegedly threw a punch at the man.

The man dodged the punch and a fight ensued. The two males ended up on the ground. The male victim subdued the Officer by straddling him. That’s when Flaig bit the man on his testicles.

Flaig was found by Baltimore Police inside another bar, covered in blood.

“These charges are disturbing and we have an obligation as police officers to conduct ourselves in a professional manner on and off-duty,” Anne Arundel County Chief of Police Timothy J. Altomare told WBAL. “We will cooperate fully with the Baltimore Police Department as they conduct their investigation. At this time, we cannot comment further because for our agency, this is a confidential personnel matter.”

There was no word on the condition of the man’s testicles.

Anne Arundel County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2010 census, its population was 537,656, a population increase of just under 10% since 2000. Its county seat is Annapolis, which is also the capital of the state.
