WASHINGTON — An Everett woman, Courtney Campbell, has died after being critically injured while working as a Barista at an Espresso stand.

“After reviewing security video, we believe a propane tank stored inside the coffee stand contributed to the fire,” said Everett Assistant Fire Marshal Eric Hicks.

She was listed in critical condition on Friday but died Monday, the hospital said. Campbell, 26, was a mother of two.

A friend told KIRO the victim was working to own the stand, “Bikini Barista”. The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

The fire broke out at the business on Fourth Avenue West and Southwest Everett Mall Way.

Propane is an odorless gas, but contains an additive that smells like rotten eggs so people can detect it. The Everett Fire Department urges citizens to leave their house immediately and call 911 if they encounter an unusual smell.
