The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for parts of Hawaii. The warning will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time on Wednesday.
The warnings are for Hawaii’s largest island, Hawaii Island, at the summits of volcanoes Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Mauna Kea stands at 13,796 feet tall while the younger Mauna Loa stands at 13,680 feet tall.
The blizzard warning was issued for elevations 11,500 feet and above on both volcanoes and said that snow accumulation may reach 8 inches with drifts being higher.
Temperatures will reach the lower 30s to upper 20s with visibility as low as a quarter of a mile.
