MALIBU, Calif. – A homicide investigation has been launched following the discovery of a human body inside a barrel at Malibu Lagoon State Beach.
The barrel, initially noticed on Sunday night at the lagoon, was spotted by sanitation workers in the water. Not perceiving anything significant inside, they opted to wait until Monday morning to retrieve it.
Upon dragging the barrel ashore, the workers realized its considerable weight, and to their shock, a body was found concealed within.
As of now, the duration of time the barrel remained there and the cause of death of the individual inside are unknown.
Most parts of Malibu beach are accessible to the public, except for the lagoon area where the body was discovered.
