His initial aircraft, a Boeing C-40 from the U.S. military service, faced a ‘critical issue’ involving an oxygen leak, prompting the need for a switch. A replacement plane was arranged for Blinken, but due to space constraints, the accompanying press pool was advised to opt for commercial flights.
Despite the unexpected hiccup, Blinken is still anticipated to return to Washington, D.C., albeit with a slight delay on Wednesday night, according to State Department spokesperson Matt Miller. The mechanical setback did not disrupt Blinken’s scheduled meetings, as he had already departed from Davos to Zurich before the issue arose.
