DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station arrested a Mexican national who had been previously convicted of murder.

“Preventing dangerous criminals, including convicted murderers, from entering our country illegally epitomizes the important work our men and women do every day,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hudak. “I commend our agents for their hard work and dedication.”

On Nov. 25, at approximately 3 p.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station apprehended Juan Robles-Espinoza, 41, a Mexican national near Eagle Pass. During processing at the Eagle Pass South Station, agents discovered that Robles-Espinoza was convicted of murder in Fort Worth on July 11, 1995 and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Immigration checks show that Robles-Espinoza was deported to Mexico in 2006, and again in March 2016.

Robles-Espinoza faces a charge of – 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation, and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.
