SEVIER COUNTY, Utah – A 13-year-old boy from Utah lost his life on Saturday after an accidental incident in which a tetherball rope became entangled around his neck, as reported by local media.

According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, there is no evidence of foul play or suspicious activity, and it appears to be a heartbreaking accident. The young boy, Maximus Knight, was participating in a cleanup effort at Knights Corn Maze, which is owned by his family.

Upon realizing that Maximus was missing, his family embarked on a search and discovered him unconscious by a tetherball pole with the rope wrapped around his neck.

Reports from KTVX indicate that initial responders managed to restore a pulse in Maximus, but he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

A GoFundMe page was set up by Maximus’ aunt, acknowledging the tragic accidental nature of his passing. The page also mentioned the the family’s corn maze in the community, where Maximus played an active role in its operation.

“Maximus was a beautiful, sweet and loving child who brought so much joy to his family and to his community,” the fundraising page says. “The youngest of his family, Maximus made every effort to impress his big brothers and care for those around him. Our hearts are broken as we struggle to make sense of this tragedy. We will forever mourn his passing.”
