MEMPHIS – – The boyfriend of a young mother who was found shot to death this summer in a South Memphis rooming house has been indicted by a grand jury, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.

Torian Williams, 24, was indicted on a second-degree murder count and is being held on $100,000 bond.

The DA says around 7:25 a.m. on June 22 this year residents of the rooming house in the 500 block of E. McLemore St. “heard an argument and a gunshot from the couple’s room.”

Police found 20-year-old Demya Gordon on the floor with a gunshot wound to the neck. Her 2-year-old daughter who was lying on the nearby bed was not injured. The victim was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Williams was arrested and charged a week later.

The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Ashley Finch of the District Attorney’s Domestic Violence Unit which prosecutes cases involving domestic assault and homicide committed by intimate partners.
