CHATLOTTE, NC. — Emergency services have responded to the scene of a crash that involved a school bus in eastern Charlotte on Thursday morning.
Responders initially received the call at around 8.a.m after reports of a school bus that collided with an SUV.
First responders said as they arrived on scene they found that the SUV, a Cadillac Escalade, was on fire.
Authorities confirmed that at least 11 people have been taken to a local hospital with injuries, eight students, the driver and two people from the SUV.
Witnesses reported that the SUV driver did not see the red light and crashed in for the school bus.
Police have blocked off the road while they conduct an investigation.
Eight students were on the buss and all were taken to hospital.
The bus driver has reportedly sustained minor injuries.
