TISHOMINGO, Oklahoma – Six female High School students were killed Tuesday afternoon in a horrific crash involving a car and a semi truck, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on US Highway 377 near State Highway 22.
“We feel it is imperative that we inform you that our district has suffered a great loss today,” Tishomingo Public Schools Superintendent Bobby Waitman wrote in a letter. “Our hearts are broken, and we are grieving with our students and staff.”
“Our focus will be the emotional well-being of our students,” Waitman added. “We have space prepared at Tishomingo High School with counselors available through the evening.”
It was unclear what caused the collision and the condition of the truck driver is unknown.
