On Tuesday, a seismic event of magnitude 7.01 occurred in the border region of Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang, as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The earthquake’s depth was recorded at 10 km (6.21 miles), according to GFZ.

Simultaneously, in neighboring Kazakhstan, the emergencies ministry documented the same earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7. In Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, residents evacuated their homes, braving the cold weather. Some were seen clad in pajamas and slippers as they gathered outside. There have been no reports of damage resulting from the earthquake.
