North Carolina Central University was on lockdown after a reported active shooter in the area of the campus on Sunday.
In a tweet, the school urged students to seek shelter away from gunfire and lock their doors: “NCCU University Police Emergency. Active shooter. If safe, seek shelter away from gunfire. Active shooter. Lock your door.”
According to local reports, one person was shot and police are searching for the suspect.
The lockdown has been lifted on campus.
The victim’s condition is not known.
