Alabama Police Officer Shot In The Face, Suspect Dead

Dearborn Police Officer was patrolling the area of Tireman and Greenfield when he observed a man who was known to be wanted on a probation violation warrant, and who escaped from officers earlier in the day after committing a larceny in Dearborn.

FLORENCE, ALABAMA — Florence Police have requested the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation regarding an officer involved shooting that happened this morning at approximately 12:10am at the intersection of Cox Creek and Cloverdale Rd.

The Florence Officer was shot in the face and has been transported to Huntsville Hospital. The officer was able to return fire, but the suspect managed to flee the scene.

The officer is alert and talking.

Approximately 30 minutes after the initial shooting, officers located a vehicle matching the suspect’s vehicle description. A short pursuit ensued and ended in the parking lot of Chisholm Hills Church of Christ.

Approaching officers heard a single gun shot from the vehicle.

No officer fired their weapon at this second scene.

The suspect was subsequently discovered to be deceased.

The SBI has taken over the investigation. Names were not released.
