ALACHUA COUNTY, Florida — A horrific crash involving multiple vehicles near Gainesville has claimed the lives of at least six people, officials say. Several others are critically injured.
The scene is on Interstate 75 near Gainesville.
The crash involved a semi-truck that burst into flames as 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled.
Alachua County Fire Rescue says a helicopter was responding to ‘help with locating possible patients that may be in the woods.’
The interstate was shut down in both directions.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
