MANSFIELD, MA. — On 6/3/2015 at approximately 2:00 pm the Mansfield police department received a call of a pedestrian and bus accident on East street by the bike path. Upon arrival the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene and the children on the bus were taken to local schools.
Grief counselors were made available to await their parents arrival. During this time, investigators are looking into the circumstances of the accident which at this time remain under investigation.
The identity of the victim, a 13 year old male, will not be released at this time pending notification to family.
From CBS-Boston: “Heather Gage was about to pick her own son up when she pulled up to the scene just moments after the collision.
“I saw the bus had pulled onto the sidewalk,” Gage said. “There was the body and I had to do a double take.”
Witnesses say it appeared the boy had been riding on or near the sidewalk.
The students were quickly taken to a different bus, then to school where their parents were called.”
