The Washington, D.C. Beltway was partially shut down Thursday after a driver reportedly hit a state trooper.
Several vehicles were involved in the accident.
The scene is at I-495 near Route 450, in the New Carrollton and Lanham areas, WRC-TV reported.
The wounded trooper was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
It was unclear if the driver was in custody.
