Firefighters were called to reports of an explosion at a Sunny Isles Beach high-rise building Friday.
There was debris on the roof of the building.
Up to 30 people have been injured after a possible explosion went off in a Sunny Isles Beach building.
The explosion occurred at the Chateau Beach residence, located at 174th Street and Collins Avenue just before noon Friday.
Several of the people injured are being treated for severe burns and will be transported to area hospitals.
Large pieces of concrete from a side wall were also blown out and may have struck pedestrians at the Monaco as it fell to the ground.
A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue helicopter landed nearby.
The building was under construction, officials said.
Officials reported to NBC 6 that it appeared a boiler room exploded, sending glass and debris out of the building. The debris fell on patrons at a hotel next door as well as beachgoers.
