Around 8:30 p.m., a 911 call came in about a shooting on Jefferson Avenue, according to the Newport News Police Department. The incident occurred near the Deja Vu Restaurant.
Officers were told there had been a fight and that multiple gunshots had been fired.
Shortly afterwards, a local hospital notified the department of three gunshot victims in the emergency room.
Officers then found a fourth victim at nearby Crittenden Middle School, who was taken to an area hospital.
“At this time, we do not know if the victims were involved in the fight or if any of the victims fired any weapons,” police said in a press release.
One person has been detained by officers and is being questioned. However, police don’t yet know if the person was involved in the shooting.
