A Hawaiian Airlines pilot was attempting an emergency landing at LAX due to a mechanical issue, according to NBC LA.
The plane was dumping fuel so it wasn’t too heavy for a landing, officials said.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight 3, an A330 from LAX to Honolulu, was scheduled to land back at LAX at 2:11 p.m. It has 290 passengers on board.
The plane made an emergency landing. No one was injured. Emergency vehicles are escorting plane back to the terminal at LAX. No obvious signs of a problem on the Airbus 330.
An emergency landing is a landing made by an aircraft in response to a crisis which either interferes with the operation of the aircraft or involves sudden medical emergencies necessitating diversion to the nearest airport.
