LAS VEGAS — At approximately 12:47 a.m. on July 18, 2015 LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to the Shalimar Hotel located at 1401 South Las Vegas Boulevard to investigate a report of possible shots fired in the back parking lot.

The caller had gone outside and located an adult male in the parking lot sitting on the ground and holding a gun. The caller then went back inside to wait for officers.

As patrol officers arrived in the parking lot to conduct their investigation, a male adult holding a gun came out of one of the hotel rooms. The male pointed the gun at officers at which time two officers fired their weapons.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the UMC Trauma Center where he is expected to survive. The preliminary investigation indicated the male was a guest at the hotel. This is the 5th officer involved shooting of 2015.
