MONCKS CORNER, South Carolina — UPDATE: The wounded deputy was flown by helicopter to the Medical University of South Carolina. Cruisers with Charleston Police and Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office wait outside the hospital as well.
REPORT: A Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot late Thursday, around 10 p.m.. The scene is at a Exxon gas station near Old Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road.
The Deputy’s condition is unknown, he or she may have been airlifted from the scene. A massive manhunt is on for the suspect.
From Live5News: “Investigators along with emergency crews were spotted in the area of an Exxon gas station at the intersection of Hwy 52 and Cypress Gardens.
Authorities have issued a BOLO for a vehicle reported to be involved in the incident. The vehicle sought is a Black Santa Fe Hyundai with tags 542-85W.
Multiple agencies including the North Charleston Police Department and SLED have also responded to the scene; the Berkeley County mobile command unit arrived at 12:03 a.m.”
