Aurora, Illinois — At least seven people were shot in an apparent gang-related shooting Sunday morning on Aurora’s Near West Side.

Just after midnight, police responded to a home in the 300 block of West Park Ave. and discovered six people suffering from gunshot wounds. The seventh person was driven to an Aurora Hospital by a relative during our initial investigation. The shooting apparently occurred during a child’s birthday party.

Despite the party attendees being largely uncooperative, officers were able to find out that the shooters arrived on bikes and on foot, fired multiple rounds, and then fled northbound on Grand Ave. The only suspect information is that the shots were fired by several males dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts. It also appears that someone at the party returned fire.

Those hit were five men, ages 21, two 22-year olds, and a 25 and 28-year-old. The 21-year-old is in critical condition. Two women, ages 27 and 30 were also shot.

The investigation is ongoing.
