Cause Of Death Announced For NBA Great, Jerome Kersey

According to OregonLive:

“Dr. Larry Lewman of the Oregon state medical examiner’s office said retired Trail Blazers great Jerome Kersey died when a blood clot broke loose from his left calf, traveled to his lungs and caused a pulmonary thromboembolism.

“When a clot gets to the lung it seeks a vessel of the same size and they plug up,” said Lewman, deputy state medical examiner. He conducted the autopsy on Kersey’s body Thursday morning.”

Kersey passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, he was 52 years-old.

WIKI: Jerome Kersey (June 26, 1962 – February 18, 2015) is a retired American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association for a number of teams, but most notably for the Portland Trail Blazers.

He also has served in various coaching roles in the NBA. Kersey is currently a resident of Lake Oswego, Oregon, a suburb of Portland.
