At least 15 people have sustained injuries in a bus explosion in Jerusalem’s Patt Junction.
Emergency services are heading to the scene of the explosion.
The wounded have been evacuated to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
A police spokeswoman said initially there were indications the incident was a militant attack, but in an updated statement she said it may have started when an empty bus caught fire and ignited another bus that had passengers on board.
The spokesperson later confirmed that a bomb caused the explosion on board a bus in Jerusalem.
According to local media, Jerusalem district police have confirmed that the 12 line bus was specifically targeted by an explosive or suicide bomber.
Initial indications suggest it was a militant attack, police said.
Multiple social media posts show smoke coming out of the burned-out bus, which is standing in the middle of the road.
Initial reports indicated that there were 20 casualties. Now officials have reported that 15 people were injured in the blast, with two injured “seriously,” one “moderately,” and five “lightly.”
